PAPER DEVELOPING CHEMISTRY

DEVELOPERS

ILFORD MULTIGRADE

ILFORD MULTIGRADE developer. MULTIGRADE is a rapid liquid concentrate dimezone-s/hydroquinone developer suitable for the dish/tray developing of all black and white photographic papers both resin coated and traditional fibre based, FB ones. It is usually used at a dilution of 1+9 but for greater development control and economy it can be used at 1+14. MULTIGRADE developer is clean working, has excellent keeping properties and gives a neutral image tone with most papers.

  • Rapid liquid concentrate
  • Suitable for RC and FB papers
  • Long shelf-life
  • Neutral image tone

KODAK POLYMAX T

Kodak Polymax T Developer is a concentrate designed for tray processing of black and white photographic papers. Kodak Polymax T Developer produces neutral or cold tones with cold-tone papers. It is supplied as an easy-to-use liquid that dilutes 1 part concentrate with 9 parts water at 70 to 80°F

  • Produces neutral or cold tones with cold-tone papers
  • Medium contrast, high capacity, fast acting
  • Liquid
  • Dilute 1:9
  • Makes 2.5 gallons working solution
  • Designed for tray processing

KODAK DEKTOL

Kodak Dektol is a standard developer for tray processing.

  • Produces neutral or cold tones with cold-tone papers and warm tones with warm- tone papers
  • Offers high capacity and uniform development rate
  • Also for use with some films
  • Powder
  • Dilute 1:2

SOLAROL

The Solarizing print developer with Solarol provides a new dimension of image control through the use of the Sabattier effect, commonly called "solarization." The effect is produced by re-exposing the print to white light while it is in the developer. With other developers, this procedure gives a dark, muddy picture, but with Solarol, contrast is maintained, sharp edge effects appear, and a beautiful, surreal image is obtained. The print can be delicate and ethereal or strong and dramatic. The results are predictable and repeatable, and you control the process just as in conventional printing. After a little practice, you will be ready to explore the almost infinite variety of effects available in this dimension of black-and-white photography. The tray life of Solarol equals that of the best of print developers, and it keeps for over two months in a well-stopped bottle. With extended use, its developing action becomes slower, but its solarizing ability actually improves. It should be discarded when it is too exhausted to produce a good black with two minutes of development. Makes 2 quarts.

FIXER

ILFORD RAPID FIXER

ILFORD RAPID FIXER is a non-hardening rapid fixer supplied as a liquid concentrate that is diluted with water for use. It is easy and convenient to use in the temperature range of 18-40ºC (66-104ºF) for fixing black and white film and paper in all manual and machine processing applications. The fixing agent in ILFORD RAPID FIXER is ammonium thiosulphate, it contains no sodium thiosulphate (hypo).

KODAK FIXER

Kodak fixer is a general-purpose hardening fixer for use with film and paper.

  • Mixes to working strength
  • Powder

KODAK KODAFIX

Kodak Kodafix is a general purpose, single-solution hardening fixer for films and papers.

  • Long life, high capacity
  • Dilute 1:3 for use with film, 1:7 parts water for use with paper
  • Liquid
  • To make 1 gallon for film and to make 2 gallons for paper

STOP BATHS

ILFORD ILFOSTOP

ILFORD ILFOSTOP is a low odour citric acid stop bath. After development we recommend that films and papers are rinsed in an acid stop bath to stop development immediately and neutralize the developer to help maintain the activity of the fixer bath. It is specifically recommended for dish/tray processing of paper or deep tank processing of film. ILFOSTOP helps to maintain the activity and prolong the life of the fixer solution by reducing carry over of excess developer (alkaline) into the fixer bath (acidic).

  • Low odour citric acid stop bath
  • Dish/tray or deep tank film processing
  • Prolongs life of fixers

KODAK INDICATOR  STOP BATH

Kodak Indicator Stop Bath is a general purpose stop bath. Concentrated liquid stop bath that turns purplish blue to signal exhaustion. Dilute one part concentrate with 64 parts water.

  • Non-hardening stop bath
  • Contains an indicator to signal exhaustion
  • Dilute 1:63
  • Liquid

FINAL RINSES

ILFORD WASHAID

ILFORD WASHAID is a hypo-eliminator formulated to aid the efficient removal of the thiosulphate by-products of fixation by ion exchange. It is particularly useful in speeding up the washing of fibre based papers and is designed to be used with the ILFORD optimum permanence sequences. It can be used to aid the rapid washing of all ILFORD films and fibre papers saving both time and water. It is particularly useful if a hardening fixer has been used.

  • Liquid concentrate
  • Aids washing of film & FB papers
  • Saves time & water

KODAK HYPO CLEARING AGENT

Kodak Hypo Clearing promotes removal of fixer from films and fiber-base papers to shorten wash times and make washing at lower wash-water temperatures practical.

  • Powder
  • Dilute stock solution 1:4

HIECO PERMA WASH

This hypo clearing agent eliminates hypo so effectively that rinse water volume can be reduced as much as 90%! At the same time, Perma Wash ensures archival permanence in films and papers.
